2014-15 Big Ten Hockey: Team previews

It still seems strange for those programs not named Penn State that we’re talking about Big Ten hockey being a reality, but year two of the conference sponsoring the sport is upon us. While year one took some adjusting it also showed that there wasn’t going to be a group of three running away with the league.

Minnesota won the inaugural regular season title, but Penn State upset them in the tournament semi’s and Wisconsin beat Penn State for the first Big Ten tournament title. Year two has the tournament moving to its second home of Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, and attendance is expected to be robust.

Entering a new year, things are much more familiar in the league and it could mean that the gap between the haves and the have-nots that existed last year may be closer to closing.

Before looking at the individual teams, let’s take a look at how the coaches see these teams finishing this season.

1. Minnesota
2. Michigan
3. Wisconsin
4. Ohio State
5. Michigan State
6. Penn State
