Welcome to the big leagues, because with a full recruiting cycle and full complement of scholarships available James Franklin and Co. killed it on the recruiting trail. Picking up 13 4-star recruits is just ridiculous on any level, and the rich got richer this recruiting season in Happy Valley.

Problems at offensive line? Let’s just sign two 4-star anchors and bring them in as early enrollees. Need an upgrade at running back? Just bring in No. 14-ranked Saquon Barkley for good measure.

Oh, and the secondary needs a bit more speed you say? How about two 4-star and top 20 overall cornerbacks (Garrett Taylor and John Reid).

How about locking down the state of Pennsylvania? How about nine of the top 15 players in the state becoming Penn State signees for your viewing pleasures.

I think you get the point — these guys are really good on the recruiting trail. As long as the Nittany Lions begin to compete with Ohio State on the football field the way they’ve competed on the recruiting trail this is going to be an interesting battle to watch for a while.
