Maryland Terrapins going all ‘Star Spangled’ for game against West Virginia

Maryland Terrapins football has become the East Coast version of the Oregon Ducks, only with more awful results. However, Under Armour and the Terps aren’t giving up. On Tuesday, the Maryland athletic department unveiled the uniforms for the ‘Star Spangled’ game against West Virginia.

Saturday will also happen to be the celebration for the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Baltimore. While it’s significance isn’t lost on most people in Maryland, the Battle of Baltimore gave us one of the most famous poems in American history.

That poem is ‘Defence of Fort McHenry’ or as most of you will know it…the ‘Star Spangled Banner.’

Maryland’s uniforms are heavily influenced by that poem and by Fort McHenry as you can see in the pictures below (courtesy of Maryland Athletics).

Personally, I love the helmets and the “Conquer We Must” on the side of the pants. I’m not 100% crazy about what the Terps are putting on their feet for this game.
