Well, that escalated quickly.
Earlier this week Michigan site mgoblog.com revealed a series of nasty e-mails purported to be from Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon to fans and alumni. In those e-mails Brandon encouraged some to stop rooting for the team and accused others of firing off drunk e-mails to him following a recent loss.
It appears that those e-mails and the reporting of the site were the final straw that broke the camels back, as Brett McMurphy of ESPN is reporting Dave Brandon will resign as the athletic director at Michigan later today.
Dave Brandon is resigning as Michigan’s AD, source told @ESPN. Press conference this afternoon

That press conference will occur at 1:30pm ET, as the U-M athletic department put out a press release announcing university president Mark Schlissel will address the media at that time.
Brandon has come under heavy fire in the past few months from students, alumni, fans and former players for various issues within the athletic department and the football program. His resignation likely comes at the behest of the board of regents, who made it clear they were doing a complete review of the department and Brandon’s handling of the department as a whole.
