Previews, Predictions for Week 8 of Big Ten football

The primary problem with college football seasons having an extra bye week per team are the limited options on a week-to-week basis when conference games are stretched to fill the extra week. Thus, Week 8 presents yet another October weekend with just five games to preview.

However, following a pretty lackluster week in which Minnesota vs. Northwestern was the biggest game on the schedule, Week 8 presents more compelling matchups overall. Newcomers Maryland and Rutgers are back in action with each facing a stiff test, Iowa for the Terrapins and Ohio State for the Scarlet Knights. Will the new guys continue to surprise with high levels of success?

Nebraska and Northwestern are still in the mix in a wide-open West Division, and those two have tended to play entertaining games each of the past three years. Thus, the nightcap in Evanston between these two should bring a good end what looks to be an entertaining set of games.

Let’s remind you of how our expert panel has fared so far this season in our picks before we unleash another round of analysis your way.
